Tech giant, who just lost against Apple greatly, a $1 billion loss, is now ready to strike back. Considering a huge loss, I feel it is quite necessary Samsung is feeling a bit upset. Especially the lost to one of its clients.
Samsung says that once Apple releases the new iPhone with 4G LTE networks, it will sue immediately. Isn't that a bit too cold? Perhaps Samsung is just trying to protect its own Galaxy smartphones. Maybe it is just revenge. However, there are two problems with this 'plan'.
First, we do not know if Apple is releasing 4G LTE with its iPhone. There is a big possibility. Maybe Apple is going to release a breakthrough new wireless data plan? We don't know. It is the super secretive Apple, for all we know.
Second, Samsung does not own all the 4G LTE patents. It owns 12.2% of all the patents, the rest belonging to Nokia, Qualcomm, and Ericsson. According to the Korea times, Samsung is talking to other carriers to work together. They are now talking about with Verizon to improve its Galaxy smartphones, and maybe with Microsoft to make a new smartphone, and so that it is not dependent to Jelly Bean.
I find this all very amusing. The patent wars are far from over, but this is just ridiculous. A counter sue based on envy may be going over the limit. Even if this is right, who talks about their revenge publicly?
